- Crude coconut oil is the basic industrial grade oil processed from copra (dried coconut meat) by expeller press and solvent extraction. Without refinement, its shelf life is lower and the colour and odour render it unsuitable for use in cosmetics or food.
- Crude coconut oil is used for industrial purposes as raw material for the production of soap and as a medium in the paint and varnish industries. It is also used in the manufacture of methyl esters, fatty acids and fatty alcohols, which are raw materials for detergents, surfactants, emulsifiers and pesticides.
